About The Position

The Peter and Stephanie Nolan College of Hotel Administration, part of this college, is renowned for its pioneering hospitality education. The Statler Hotel, located on Cornell University's campus, serves as the practical hotel operations laboratory for the Nolan School of Hotel Administration, providing students with hands-on experience. It is a 4-diamond hotel with over 150 rooms and conference facilities, committed to excellence in service and hospitality education. As part of the Statler Hotel's Culinary Team, the Temporary Banquet Cook, also referred to as the Banquet Pantry and Buffet Attendant, is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality buffet offerings while maintaining the highest standards of service for guests. This role involves supporting banquet events, working action stations, and collaborating with front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless guest experience. The Attendant is also tasked with mentoring student cooks and upholding professionalism, alongside adhering to food safety standards and operational efficiency. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort
  • Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and follow cooking directions
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be organized and self-motivated
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials
