About The Position

This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face or online courses during the Fall 2026, Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 semesters in the Liberal Arts & Education Division. Adjunct faculty will be expected to teach and/or develop lower division courses (1000 and 2000 Level) in Communications. Possible courses include: COMM 1115 – Introduction to Communication, COMM 1130 – Public Speaking, COMM 1145 – Sex, Lies, and Fake News: How to Use Media Wisely, COMM 1150 – Introduction to Mass Communication, COMM 1155 – Communication Across Culture, COMM 2120 – Introduction to Interpersonal Communication, COMM 2121 – Introduction to Interpersonal Health Communication. UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training, and personal enrichment courses. The Liberal Arts & Education Division at the UNM Gallup Branch is seeking a qualified temporary part-time faculty member to teach lower division classes in various courses or topics as specified. UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching. Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, the current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communications or related field

Responsibilities
