About The Position

The Teller performs teller transactions and cash handling functions for clients, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. This includes processing deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, and check cashing, as well as balancing the cash drawer. The role also involves accurately performing and supporting daily tasks that maintain branch integrity, such as balancing the ATM, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing the credit card machine, and updating lobby rate sheets and brochures. A key aspect is mitigating risk by safeguarding money in the cash drawer and promptly accounting for or transferring funds. The Teller interacts with both external and internal clients, anticipating their needs and providing proactive solutions in line with the bank's service standards. They are expected to continuously deepen their knowledge of Columbia Bank's products and services, stay current on changes, and discuss customer financial needs to offer appropriate solutions. Additionally, the Teller supports branch referral goals by identifying and referring basic bank products to the relevant business partners.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Ability to learn and comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and verbal and written instructions.
  • Consistently demonstrates ability and willingness to build relationships with clients and other bank associates.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years of previous banking or demonstrated sales and client service experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of consumer & business products.
  • May back up some duties of the Personal Banker and/or Assistant Manager with operational duties and tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform teller transactions and cash handling functions for clients with accuracy and confidentiality (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, balancing cash drawer).
  • Accurately perform and support daily tasks that maintain the integrity of the branch (e.g., appropriate use of double custody in balancing the ATM, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing credit card machine, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures).
  • Mitigate risk by ensuring safekeeping of money in cash drawer and prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
  • Interact with external and internal clients, anticipate needs, and consistently provide proactive solutions in alignment with the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
  • Continuously deepen knowledge of Columbia Bank's product and service offerings and stay current on changes.
  • Discuss and uncover customer's financial needs to identify and offer appropriate products and services.
  • Support referral goals for branch by focusing and identifying and referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner.
