About The Position

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Technician performs continuous cardiac monitoring of patients to support safe and effective patient care. This role is responsible for recognizing cardiac rhythm changes, identifying patient distress, and promptly communicating findings to the clinical team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire – Required
  • Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course – Required
  • Strong critical thinking and sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to function effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree – Preferred
  • EMT, EMT-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA – Preferred
  • OR completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Performs continuous surveillance of multiple cardiac monitors
  • Recognizes significant arrhythmias and signs of patient distress and takes appropriate action
  • Identifies and corrects monitoring artifacts
  • Reports abnormal telemetry findings and changes in patient condition (physical, mental, or emotional) to nursing staff promptly
  • Ensures monitoring equipment is functioning properly
  • Reports equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations
