About The Position

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Technician PRN performs continuous cardiac monitoring to support safe and effective patient care. This role is responsible for identifying rhythm changes, recognizing signs of patient distress, and promptly communicating findings to the clinical team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent – Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
• Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire – Required
• Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course – Required
• Strong critical thinking and sound clinical judgment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Effective communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree – Preferred
• EMT, EMT-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA – Preferred
• OR completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN)

Responsibilities

• Performs continuous surveillance of multiple cardiac monitors
• Recognizes significant arrhythmias and signs of patient distress and takes appropriate action
• Identifies and corrects monitoring artifacts
• Reports abnormal telemetry findings and changes in patient physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff promptly
• Ensures monitoring equipment is functioning properly
• Reports equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor
• Performs other duties as assigned to support unit operations and patient care
