About The Position

Teen Summer Interns will participate in a 6-week, 25-hours-per-week internship with three tracks available: Multimedia Culinary Arts Junior Youth Development Professional (Jr. YDP) All interns will: Attend weekly Career Readiness Workshops Visit three Bay Area Company Field Trips for career exploration Present at the Capstone Final Presentation on Thursday, July 16th. Internship Opportunity: Culinary Arts Intern Shifts: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM Assist Culinary Arts staff with lunch service and food prep Help lead cooking workshops for teens Learn about kitchen safety, nutrition, and culinary careers Gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced culinary environment

Requirements

Active BCGSL membership
Rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student
All selected interns under 18 must provide a valid work permit from their school district prior to starting work.
Interest in culinary arts
Availability to attend all scheduled shifts, trainings, and program events is required for participation.
Must be available for the full duration of the internship (June 8, 2026 – July 17, 2026)

Willingness to learn new skills and work in a team
Frequent standing and moving around while assisting youth with equipment and managing the space.
Must be able to lift and move technology equipment (up to 25 lbs) such as computers, speakers, and DJ setups.
Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying items as needed to maintain and organize the space.
Occasional use of basic hand tools for minor repairs or adjustments to equipment.
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases in an office environment, including COVID-19, common cold, and flu viruses (Negative TB screen required).
Noise levels in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
