About The Position

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Technical Product Manager - Cheminformatics and Machine Learning, located in Beerse - Belgium or Spring House - US The Technology Product Manager for Cheminformatics and Machine Learning for Molecular Invention will work directly with business partners, providing strategic analysis of business processes, defining scientific IT requirements and developing strategic partnerships with research and business technology colleagues to deliver complex cross-site and multi-disciplinary projects and programs. In this business technology role, the successful candidate will help shape and realize enterprise-wide discovery informatics platforms, to modernize and support lead discovery and optimization activities in the small molecule space. Requirements

  • A minimum of a master’s degree in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or related subjects, OR a Chemistry related master’s degree and demonstrable experience working with informatics and scientific IT applications OR a master’s degree in Computer Science and experience applying computational methods in chemistry application areas
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience enabling chemistry informatics systems within big pharma
  • Demonstrable ability to be bilingual in both chemistry and technology is a must.
  • Strong business sense & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with business partners to understand business requirements.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, multiple partners, multi-functional teams, and evolving needs.
  • Demonstrable competence to influence, negotiate, and build collaborative partnerships and trust across functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading Machine Learning initiatives in cheminformatics is desirable
  • Experience with pipelining applications such as KNIME or PipeLine Pilot is desirable.
  • Experience with Python is desirable
  • Experience with commercial chemistry software providers such as Schrodinger, Chemical Computing Group, OpenEye, ChemAxon etc is desirable
  • Experience with open source cheminformatics applications, such as RDKit or CDK is desirable
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Qlick or Power BI is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to delivering cheminformatics and the broader discovery informatics platforms on behalf of Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine’s research organization globally.
  • Define, scout, implement and champion new data-driven and scientific IT approaches across discovery sciences globally.
  • Lead cross-site, multi-disciplinary projects with internal and external partners.
  • Provide vendor management for global cheminformatics applications
  • Contribute to the efficient management of a global cheminformatics infrastructure, including maintaining specific databases and resources
  • Identify and drive opportunities to enable the modernization of chemistry-centric decision-making
  • Manage the global deployment of AI and ML models for molecular invention
  • Promote the engagement and commitment of team members and ensure excellent communication between researchers and developers/engineers.
  • Define project goals and manage risks/budgets to ensure impact, including post project evaluations.
  • Evaluate and communicate the strengths and weaknesses of business processes.
  • Identify new business requirements and develop the business change strategies to address the needs of stakeholders by improving information systems, procedures and championing organizational change.
