About The Position

As a Technology Manager at Oncor, you’ll lead near and long-term Strategy, Demand Planning, Budgeting, Design, Development, Delivery, and Operations of Oncor’s Technology solutions. The Technology Manager ensures that planning, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, process improvements, and transformation optimize and complement Oncor’s strategy and objectives. This role is responsible for leading cross-functional coordination and communication activities to enable development and production support for programs and projects in the assigned Technology function. This position is a hybrid role that will report 3 plus days in the office based at our Woodall Rodgers – Downtown Dallas, TX location.

  • Knowledge of technology and utility-based concepts including advanced metering, customer information systems, work and asset management, engineering and design, finance & accounting, security and/or networks.
  • Technology Manager Level 1 High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 3+ years of professional experience with project management responsibilities is required. Will consider candidates with Bachelor’s Degree AND 2+ years of experience in a technology development, solution delivery, or operations responsibility OR 2+ years of cross-functional supervisory or program/project management experience in lieu of above criteria.
  • Technology Manager Level 2 High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 5+ years of professional experience with project management responsibilities is required. Will consider candidates with Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of experience in a technology development, solution delivery, or operations responsibility OR 4+ years of cross-functional supervisory or program/project management experience in lieu of above criteria.
  • Technology Manager Level 3 High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 7+ years of professional experience with project management responsibilities is required. Will consider candidates with Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of experience in a technology development, solution delivery, or operations responsibility OR 6+ years of cross-functional supervisory or program/project management experience in lieu of above criteria.

Responsibilities

  • With direction from the Technology Director and consultation with other application portfolio stakeholders, assesses and anticipates current and future technology needs.
  • Provides the service and expertise necessary for both project and operational activities, including but not limited to, user acceptance testing, input into training and change management materials, quality checks, and deployment of new technologies.
  • Productively collaborates with cross-functional technology teams and manager to prepare short- and long-term action plans for assigned Technology Solutions.
  • Serves as a 360-degree thinking tollgate to ensure One Technology orchestration and alignment is achieved before roll out of significantly impacting technology changes.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with various Oncor workgroups as well as internal and external stakeholders for risk/issue management.
  • Maintains the assigned Technology function’s budget (Capital & Operations/Maintenance) and makes collaborative, informed, facilitated, and dynamic investment prioritization decisions.
  • Effectively communicates and navigates disruption that can arise with technology delivery protection, and operations.
  • Oversees assigned Technology function operations and guides transformation, change, and continuous improvement efforts to support business outcomes.
  • Attracts, manages, and develops top workforce talent for the Technology function.
  • Understands, measures, and communicates team capacity and velocity for demand planning and work execution purposes.
  • Manages resources in assigned function across Technology portfolio of work.
  • Ensures resources are allocated efficiently to achieve business objectives.
  • Conducts crucial conversations where performance and continuous improvement are needed.
  • Proactively ensures alignment of Technology solutions to enterprise architecture guidelines.
  • Manages vendor teams and aligns vendor services with enterprise strategy and the assigned Technology function objectives.
  • Uses subject matter expertise to track and maintain new and existing software and hardware assets and cloud services.
  • Implements Oncor and industry standards, best practices and development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps, within the assigned Technology function to improve expected outcomes.
  • Applies design thinking and data science best practices to ensure sustainable solutions.
  • Identifies and shares information and trends that can improve the assigned Technology function outcomes.
  • Confirms and adheres to all procedures, policies, and regulatory guidance.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned, such as but not limited to, budgeting, ownership of transformational change management, develop and monitor key metrics, and design thinking.
