As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you will work on real projects, be part of a collaborative culture, and receive support for growth across two full semesters. The Internship Program focuses on impact, allowing interns to contribute to meaningful work while building valuable skills in media, entertainment, and technology.

Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027)
Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States
Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
Must be willing to work in New York, NY
Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire

Nice To Haves

Students with class standing of junior or above preferred
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Strong interest in the media and/or technology industry
Previous internship experience or on-campus leadership/projects a plus
For technical roles: Knowledge of HTML, C++, CSS (SASS, PostCSS, LESS), Java, Javascript, rxJava Adobe Illustrator, D3.js, QGIS, Wireframing, Figma, Sketch, GraphQL, Microsoft PowerBI / Tableau reporting and visualizations

Design the future of products, supporting flexible systems that fuel brands like NBC News, TODAY, Telemundo (for Creative Design/UX)
Be involved from strategy to execution for mobile apps, OTT platform, web experiences, and the Big Board used on broadcast (for Creative Design/UX)
Explain the news through visualizations and data analysis (for Data/Graphics)
Build interactives, charts, maps, illustrations, graphics (for Data/Graphics)
Help find stories that could be told in a new and visual way (for Data/Graphics)
Help create charts, maps and graphics for breaking news stories and for reported features (for Data/Graphics)
Design, develop and test NBC News’s flagship Android/iOS applications (for Mobile App Development)
Work on native mobile applications across all the NBC News brands (for Mobile App Development)
Collaborate with developers, product and project management in shipping out features (for Mobile App Development)
Follow engineering best practices and write quality code (for Mobile App Development)
Partner with the Product, Operations, Design, and Editorial teams to bring NBC News Digital content to life (for Software Engineering)
Be a significant influence on the product roadmap, bringing a technical and strategic perspective (for Software Engineering)
Work alongside fellow inspired developers in a fast-paced environment using technologies like Sass, React.js and GraphQL (for Software Engineering)
