The Academic Year internship program offers interns the opportunity to work on real projects, contribute to meaningful work, and build skills over two full semesters (September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027). Interns will be part of a collaborative culture, receiving support for growth in media, entertainment, and technology. The program emphasizes impact and learning, providing an environment for curious, driven individuals excited about the industry. This specific internship supports coverage of the South region for NBC's flagship broadcast network shows (TODAY, NIGHTLY NEWS) and expanding cable/online platforms (MSNBC, NBC News Now). Interns will work on diverse news stories, collaborating with the assignment desk, producers, and correspondents to learn the process of getting a network news story on air.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Miami, FL.
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Strong interest in the media industry.
  • Commitment to building an inclusive work environment.
  • Previous internship experience and on-campus involvement.
  • Strong interest in and demonstrated knowledge of current affairs.
  • Desired majors: Journalism or Broadcast Journalism, Digital/New Media Studies, Communications, Production.

Responsibilities

  • Providing editorial support to the NBC news assignment desk- making phone calls, booking interviews, logging press conferences.
  • Assisting producers with location support, including booking travel and scouting live shot positions.
  • Pitching, researching, and developing stories for various platforms.
