Bala is hiring an experienced Senior Level Building Technology Systems Designer to work onsite in its New York office. The position partners with our existing enterprise technology team to develop our New York offerings which are positioned for growth. The Design Lead will work as part of the enterprise Technology group but will ultimately be responsible for the overall work product produced for New York projects. They will act as a senior leader within the company by taking accountability and ownership of the firm’s NY technology project profitability and quality in conjunction with other NY office leaders. Most importantly, the candidate will have existing project experience and relationships in NYC and the greater tri-state markets and be able to represent themselves and Bala in technology thought leadership and business development efforts.

Requirements

Multi-discipline design experience with a focus on at least two of the following: Structured Cabling, Access Control/Video Surveillance, Audiovisual, IoT/Building Systems Integration, Enterprise Technology Strategy, Distributed Antenna/Emergency Radio Systems, Wi-Fi/Network Design, Datacenter Design
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering, design or management discipline or history of continuing education and certification on technology design for the built environment.
Industry Certification in at least one focus area (RCDD, PSP, CTS-D)
Solid experience in commercial technology consultancy, across a variety of verticals
Strong people management skills
History of thought leadership with formal writing, presentations and/or participation in standards bodies
Proven leader of people across a matrixed organization
Minimum 15 years’ experience as a professional in engineering consulting

Responsibilities

Cultivate and build a strong New York presence by participating in marketing and business development meetings.
Develop New York clientele to increase project sales cycle possibilities
Generate leads, garner RFP’s, write proposals, and participate in interviews and marketing presentations.
Build relationships with clients and owners to sell projects directly.
Initially provide Project Management on all projects within the office while developing a long-term staffing plan to focus on managing key projects and accounts as the team grows.
Provide value across the Bala offices as a technical resource and leadership.
Interact with NY office leader and enterprise senior management on office and strategic issues
Office lead for Technology Department to assist in staffing schedules and workloads
Perform high level enterprise Quality Control on projects.
Develop, retain, and hire new staff, identifying future candidates for promotion and succession.
Annual performance reviews for your staff, with regular interim follow-up on performance.
Establish technical growth goals for each staff member and help them achieve those goals.
