A Little About You You’re a hands-on marketing technologist who enjoys building, launching, and optimizing campaigns. You’re comfortable working in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, eager to learn, and excited to take ownership of campaign execution across email and SMS. You’re naturally curious and not afraid to test new ideas - whether that’s improving a journey, streamlining a workflow, or exploring how AI tools can help speed up campaign development. You’re detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated by seeing campaigns go from concept to launch. Position Overview Zelis is looking for a Technologist, Marketing Automation to support the execution and optimization of member marketing campaigns across email, SMS, and other outbound channels. This role is primarily focused on building and deploying campaigns within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including journey orchestration, automation workflows, and campaign QA. You’ll partner closely with marketing managers, analytics, and Salesforce teams to bring campaigns to life and ensure high-quality execution. In addition to campaign execution, you’ll contribute to ongoing improvements in marketing operations—supporting vendor coordination, process optimization, and exploration of new tools and technologies, including AI-driven solutions that improve speed to market and team efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience (required).
  • 2–3+ years of experience in marketing automation, campaign operations, or marketing technology roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Mobile Studio).
  • Working knowledge of SQL, HTML, and/or AMPscript.
  • Experience building and deploying email and SMS campaigns, including basic journey orchestration.
  • Understanding of campaign execution workflows, QA processes, and marketing operations best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with marketing, analytics, and technical teams.
  • Curiosity and willingness to explore new tools, including AI-driven solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Marketing Cloud integrations (APIs, FTP, MC Connect, SSJS).
  • Familiarity with deliverability best practices and inbox monitoring.
  • Experience with campaign performance reporting and optimization.
  • Exposure to AI tools or automation workflows that improve marketing efficiency.
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or B2B2C environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and deploy email and SMS campaigns and multi-step member journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Mobile Studio).
  • Translate campaign requirements into technical execution, including audience segmentation, dynamic content, and automation logic.
  • Perform end-to-end QA to ensure accuracy across targeting, personalization, links, and tracking.
  • Support the development and maintenance of automated workflows and triggered campaigns.
  • Partner with marketing managers, analytics, and Salesforce teams to ensure campaigns are executed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain campaign tracking standards, including UTM tagging and platform-level tracking consistency.
  • Assist in monitoring campaign performance and support test-and-learn initiatives to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Support day-to-day Marketing Cloud operations, including data quality checks, subscriber management, and campaign setup.
  • Assist with vendor coordination, including tracking requests, issues, and follow-ups.
  • Contribute to process documentation and identify opportunities to improve workflows and campaign execution efficiency.
  • Support platform enhancements, integrations, and operational improvements as needed.
  • Explore and apply AI tools (including Zelis-approved tools and ChatGPT) to streamline campaign development, QA, and workflow efficiency.
  • Experiment with new approaches, including automation enhancements or lightweight agent-based solutions, to improve speed to market.
  • Share learnings and contribute to evolving best practices for AI-enabled marketing operations.
