The Impact You’ll Make in this Role Provides technical/engineering support and services through project organization and execution. Increases expertise and proficiency in a technical area, including consolidation of skills learned. Establishes and controls project spending to budget by specifying and estimating project costs. Assumes responsibility of leading medium size engineering projects or participates on larger projects where a team approach is utilized. Here, you will make an impact by: Management and Execution of Projects. Acquires general knowledge and understanding of the Engineering organization through completion of assigned projects. Develops and applies fundamental project management skills to provide support and services to manufacturing, laboratory and other facilities that includes examining project scope, equipment specifications and other project requirements. Develops basic engineering, analytical, and mathematical skills to identify specific requirements and parameters for optimum results, safety, and cost effectiveness. Develops and coordinates renewal project time lines with business partners, suppliers, and project team to stay on schedule. Develops knowledge and skills to coordinate resources for plant and engineering personnel, contractors, fabricators, and/or suppliers as related to their project workload. Communicates with business partners, suppliers, plant and engineering personnel, as well as the appropriate management regarding project status, timelines, and cost. Responds to inquiries as needed. Intellectual Property, Regulations, and Compliance. Protects 3M Intellectual Property through the understanding, and appropriate use of competitive technology awareness, government regulation awareness, supplier/consultant agreements, records of invention, patents, and technical notebooks. Contributes to the development of proprietary positions. Follows and promotes corporate business conduct, safety, health, and environmental policies and practices, including Engineering guidelines, standards, and specifications. Understands basic local/state/federal/country government codes and regulations as appropriate to the assignment. Leadership. Builds networks with necessary disciplines and utilizes available information, resources and systems. Participates on and may lead teams. Builds a working knowledge of key corporate initiatives and applies appropriate tools. May participate in Engineering Manufacturing Technology Organization (EMTO)/Engineering Manufacturing Technology Chapters (EMTC). Renewal and reliability planning and support the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning. Utilizes engineering, analytical, and mathematical skills for the design and specification of equipment and facilities. Develops the ability to coordinate the selection, installation, checkout and startup of new and existing equipment and facilities. Develops knowledge and understanding of appropriate project and equipment documentation, such as project cost, schedules, and equipment manuals. Working with Technical Information. Develops proficiency in using corporate and engineering applications and systems to prepare project information and requirements data analysis. The job also requires performing other duties as assigned. Percentages of time spent on job duties are estimates and may vary for each position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) OR Associates or Two-Year Technology degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) AND two (2) years of Engineering process, technology, project experience in mechanical system installation and/or maintenance in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
