Organize and monitor all training of new and existing staff and students in technician responsibilities in the department. Ensure that current employees are updated on new procedures. Monitor annual competency testing of all technicians. Standardize technician training within the department. Continually improve the training within the department and maintain the highest level of customer service and patient care. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Department Supervisors scheduling and providing training to all new employees in the department as assigned.
  • Develops training modules in conjunction with the Teaching Specialist for all existing, new, and changed processes.
  • Ensures that all of the appropriate documentation is complete on new employees in the department, and assists the Teaching Specialist with competency documentation, at regular intervals, on current employees.
  • Ensures that the training program is up to date and helps keep all procedures updated.
  • Retrains employees when indicated by QA or other systems in place and provides the appropriate documentation.
  • Helps Problem Resolution Specialist with QA problem files.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of and support of all ARUP Laboratories specimen handling operations, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Promptly notifies immediate superiors of exception and/or unusual occurrences and documents variance according to department policy.
  • Works in the production environment as needed.
  • Able to work and provide training on all shifts and days and any required overtime.
  • Functions as a Technician in the assigned department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
