About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Technician Sr Spec to join our team in Courtland, AL! We are seeking a detail-oriented individual possessing excellent technical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment. This position will perform a variety of functional tests supporting the manufacturing of ordnance components for leading-edge aerospace programs such as THAAD and FBM. This position is to support our first shift on a 4x10 schedule: Monday-Thursday 0600-1630. However, the position may require periodic or unscheduled overtime and/or nonstandard workweek depending on program schedule requirements and equipment availability.

Requirements

  • Experience with standard hand tools and test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers and/or torque wrenches
  • Experience with reading and working from test procedures, work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, wiring lists, sketches, and/or other information and documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
  • Must be a United States citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge of procedures related to explosive tests, handling methods, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to storage handling and use of explosives and ordnance devices
  • Complete knowledge of explosives and their characteristics, including ammunition handling, storage and loading
  • Prior experience with ordnance function testing
  • Prior experience with shock and vibe testing
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Work experience in the Aerospace and/or Defense industry
  • Experience working with SAP, EPDM, DOORs, CREO, CAMEO, Automation Framework, or industry equivalent(s)
  • Ability to maintain process discipline in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build solid relationships with team members

Responsibilities

  • Perform operations required for the preparation of explosive charges such as mixing, blending, pressing, rolling, forming and cutting of explosive materials
  • Collect and assemble all fixtures and components; install instrumentation mounts and accessories on test components and fixtures, and set up high speed cameras to obtain test data as directed by Test Engineering
  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems
  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format
  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions
