About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of multiple departments and performing additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned or necessary. The individual will set up and configure various low voltage systems, including security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, and network cabling. This involves running, terminating, and labeling cables according to project requirements and industry standards. Key responsibilities also include performing regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtimes, and fixing faults or damages to restore systems to optimal working condition. The role provides technical support, including training and support to end users on system operation and maintenance, and addresses customer inquiries professionally. It is crucial to ensure all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and to follow all safety guidelines. The technician will maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs, generate reports on system performance, and evaluate existing systems for upgrades or enhancements. Collaboration with other technicians, engineers, and project managers is essential for successful project completion, as is effective communication with clients to understand their needs. The position requires staying abreast of the latest industry trends, demonstrating expertise, and applying it to action plans, providing expert advice, and supporting business needs. Furthermore, the role involves implementing business solutions by building relationships with stakeholders, identifying business needs, carrying out necessary processes, monitoring progress, and adapting to changes. Compliance with company policies, procedures, mission, values, and ethics, including using the Open Door Policy, is also a core expectation.

Requirements

  • Must hold state and jurisdiction required certification and license for the state/jurisdiction of work. Reciprocal license may apply.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Prior work experience in role requiring knowledge of local electrical codes and standards.

  • BICSI Installer Certification
  • CompTIA certifications for networking (for example, Network+)
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (for example, Honeywell, Axis, or Bosch systems)
  • NICET 1 & 2 Fire Alarm certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification/training
  • Technical training or certification in low voltage systems

  • Following all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.

  • Communicating effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Staying abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrating up-to-date expertise and applying this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
