Role Summary: The Technician I, Corrosion Control role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing corrosion control equipment and performing corrosion control surveys on pipeline and terminal facilities to support the implementation of the Company Corrosion Control program.

Requirements

  • Two-year associate’s degree in a technical field OR the equivalent combination of education/work experience is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of practical corrosion control/cathodic protection experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable Industry codes and standards preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with experience using Windows and MS Office applications required.
  • Up to 75% travel required.
  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to work extensively in the field under varying weather conditions and noise levels.
  • Must be readily available to provide technical assistance during responses to pipeline releases or other emergencies.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.
  • Requires strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills, ability to work well under pressure with strong commitment to safety.
  • Ability to supervise 24/7 operations and work overtime as required.
  • Requires excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written), organizational and managerial skills and the ability to effectively negotiate with vendors and internal customers are essential.
  • Maintain high level of technical expertise to remain current with changing technology, standards and regulations.
  • Must be readily available to provide technical assistance during responses to pipeline releases or other emergencies.

  • AMPP Certification preferred.
  • Other Industry Certifications helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of corrosion control systems, under the supervision/direction of Corrosion Specialists, as required.
  • Oversee projects in the assigned area including scheduling activites and coordinating contractors, materials and equipment, as directed by Corrosion Specialist.
  • Ensure schedule compliance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
  • Supervise third-party contractors to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with Company standards.
  • Create and maintain accurate corrosion control records in the Company’s databases and recordkeeping systems.
  • Perform limited technical review and analysis of survey data before submitting to Corrosion Engineer or Corrosion Specialist for final review.
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams, as required.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Review monthly inspection metrics produced by Corrosion Engineer to coordinate maintenance activities with Corrosion Specialist.
  • Attend local corrosion coordinating committees and AMPP section meetings.
  • Participate in cooperative interference testing with other pipeline companies.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
