About The Position

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. The Technician Assistant supports certified NETA technicians in the inspection, testing, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical power systems. This entry-level role is designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in electrical testing while working in compliance with NETA standards, NFPA, OSHA, and company safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read basic electrical drawings and schematics
  • Prior experience in electrical construction, maintenance, or testing
  • Familiarity with NETA, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety standards
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of electrical theory or power systems (trade school or coursework preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead technicians with electrical testing of power distribution systems, including: Switchgear, Circuit breakers, Protective relays, Transformers, Cables and grounding systems
  • Set up, operate, and break down test equipment under supervision
  • Perform visual inspections and basic mechanical and electrical checks
  • Accurately document test data and field observations
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in safe working condition
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout (LOTO)
  • Support troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities
  • Travel to job sites as required, including industrial, commercial, and utility facilities
  • Assist with job site organization and housekeeping
  • Participate in training and development toward technician certification
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
