About The Position

Our internship program at Sigma: As an Intern at Sigma, you’ll work on documentation for various production features and learn best practices of developing user assistance for enterprise software. Our interns work directly with our engineers, product leaders, and designers across the organization everyday. We’re looking for students who bring curiosity, a spirit for collaboration, and a desire for shaping the future of business insights and data exploration. About the role: As a Technical Writing Intern , you will test and document new product features that help our global user base analyze and gather insights from their data. During your internship, you’ll partner directly with your tech writer mentor, as well as collaborate with other teams across the business to deliver a significant new documentation project that benefits our customers. You will collaborate across the company to determine the best solution for your technical challenge. Interns will take their project from ideation through implementation, iterating and gathering feedback along the way. Potential projects include developing new tutorials and examples, creating video and gif content to illustrate key concepts, or implementing information architecture transformations.

Requirements

  • Current student : Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university undergraduate or graduate degree program in the U.S with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Able to intern from May/June 2026 through August/early September 2026
  • Authorization : You must be legally authorized to work in the US during the Summer 2026 program Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions
  • Location: Applicants must be able to work in-person in our office in either San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY for the duration of their internship.

  • Applicants must be pursuing at least a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills, emphasizing clarity and approachability for various audiences.
  • A genuine desire to learn new things daily and to translate complex topics into actionable user assistance for end users.
  • Solid project management and communication abilities. You love to find the right resources and can own tasks end to end with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Able to commit 40 hrs a week for 12 weeks in-person in our San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY office

Responsibilities

  • Write clear and accurate documentation that enables Sigma customers to use the product to effectively and efficiently achieve their goals.
  • Deploy documentation and gather insights from customer metrics to aid you in making better decisions and improve your business acumen and collaboration skills.
  • Work closely with the development team (including engineers, designers, and product managers) throughout the development process to understand features and functionality at the level of a subject matter expert.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning, bug bashes, and strategic discussions.
  • Explore and validate product features through rigorous testing, sharing insights with the team.
  • Translate complex technical details into clear, digestible documentation and release notes.
  • Work collaboratively and closely with other writers to ensure consistent and cohesive content, style, and messaging.
  • Improve existing documentation based on feedback from customer-facing teams and actively address knowledge gaps, prioritizing user empowerment for all audiences.
  • Develop visually captivating, dynamic documentation that includes diagrams, screenshots, and other visual aids.
