About The Position

Peraton Labs is seeking a Technical Writer to support its Electronic Warfare Systems organization. This position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and requires on site work, 5 days a week. Duties: Perform high quality technical writing, editing, and formatting of deliverables/documents, to include technical reports and briefings, white papers, software user manuals, and program management documentation, as defined by government team leads (GTLs), ensuring that written products are clear, concise and free of grammatical, spelling, and formatting errors. Become familiar with governing security classification guides and how to properly portion mark documents. Be knowledgeable on how to use relevant style guides when reviewing documents. Create and update existing templates based on project stakeholder requirements. Engage with authors, government team leads and senior personnel to better understand the subject matter. Be able to prioritize and balance multiple assignments. Maintain a document tracking system to monitor the document review process. Monitor deliverable statuses to maintain accountability, work with authors to implement changes, and communicate deliverable statuses to Government Leads. Mentor authors to resolve issues regarding clarity and conciseness and help them improve their writing skills and gain mastery of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, templates in order to more efficiently create project deliverables. Attend with and/or represent our client at various design reviews and meetings. Occasional overnight travel

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Minimum 3 years experience and AS/AA or 2yr Tech School; or HS/GED w/ 10 years or military experience E4 and up
  • Experience in word processing to prepare complex and detailed documents with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expertise in preparing and/or maintaining documentation pertaining to programming, systems operation, and user documentation.
  • Expertise in translating business specifications into user documentation.
  • Planning, writing, and maintaining systems and user support documentation efforts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of documentation for the strategic weapon system and the weapon system equipment it supports, including targeting, operations, and training.
