About The Position

The Technical Writer provides support to the overall mission by fusing intelligence and information to provide decision support briefing to CISA leadership. This position synthesizes critical infrastructure information daily to provide strategic-level situational awareness briefings. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Requirements

  • Level 1: 1-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment .
  • Level 2: 4-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals . A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required . Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment .
  • Level 3: 8 or more years of experience, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks; may lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Knowledge of the techniques and methods of planning, organizing, and writing various types of materials; research methodology ; and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Skill in writing technical and business documents, and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to conduct research; to compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports; and to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend , and assess a vast amount of highly technical information in a time-constrained environment.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office; including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other general software applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or master's degree with an e mphasis in business administration, English , education, or related field .
  • Experience in technical writing, journalism, or communications work
  • Able to quickly learn complex software tools and accurately reflect real-world use cases in your writing.
  • Able to proactively identify documentation gaps, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Skilled at extracting information from diverse stakeholders, resolving ambiguity, and integrating feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Compose, review, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports, including training or user manuals, how-to guides, policy and procedure documentation, and other technical documentation.
  • Research , develop, and disseminate information on techniques for organizing and presenting information for clarity and accessibility.
  • Arrange for the duplication and distribution of documents, publications, and reports.
  • Consult with staff on the development of materials by gathering accurate information and translating technical content, including descriptions of concepts, processes , and systems, into clear, user-friendly language.
  • Prepare responses to correspondence, reports, surveys, questionnaires, and other requests for information.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize documents.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions .
  • Ensure that documentation is compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Review existing technical writing and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
