About The Position

AttainX Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Technical Writer to join our federal IT delivery team supporting the USDA Farm Production and Conservation Business Center (FPAC BC). The ideal candidate brings extensive experience creating and managing complex SDLC documentation, security compliance artifacts, and user-facing Help content for enterprise government applications. You will serve as a documentation subject matter expert and quality advocate, collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and government stakeholders to ensure clear, compliant, and high-quality deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 8+ years of experience in technical writing, editing, and documentation management in IT or federal environments
  • Proven ability to author and maintain SDLC documentation including project management plans, project charters, requirements management plans, risk assessments, installation documentation, training guides, release notes, and quality assurance plans
  • Experience writing andmaintainingsecurity and compliance documentation such as privacy threshold analyses, privacy impact assessments, security impact assessments, and application scanning questionnaires
  • Proficiencydeveloping user-facing Help documentation for enterprise applications using tools such asMadCapFlare or equivalent
  • Strong experience with deliverables management — tracking, coordinating reviews, managing approval workflows, and publishing final documentationin accordance withclient requirements
  • Demonstrated ability toidentifygaps and inconsistencies between business requirements and software functionality and translate findings into clear documentation
  • Experience working within Agile orSAFedelivery teams, including sprint ceremonies, backlog participation, and iterative documentation updates
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, Project) and collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior technical writing staff, manage workload distribution, and ensure documentation meets established quality standards and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain andmaintaina USDA Public Trust Clearance

  • Experience supporting USDA, FPAC, NRCS, or other federal civilian agencies.
  • CertifiedSAFeAgilist orSAFePractitioner (4, 5, or 6)
  • ITIL V3 Foundation Certification or equivalent IT service management knowledge
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or equivalent security documentation experience
  • Master's Certificate or advanced coursework in Project Management
  • Experience supporting stage gate review presentations and deployment approval processes
  • Familiarity with software testing processes sufficient to test applications against Help content,identifybugs, andsubmitUI change recommendations
  • Experience with style guide development and template management for enterprise documentation programs

Responsibilities

  • Author, edit, andmaintaincomprehensive SDLC documentation across all project phases for multiple concurrent applications
  • Create andmaintainsecurity documentation including privacy threshold analyses, privacy impact assessments, security impact assessments, and application security profiles in compliance with federal regulatory requirements
  • Develop andmaintainuser-facing Help documentation for enterprise applications supporting large end-user populations
  • Manage the full documentation lifecycle: drafting, review coordination, version control, approval workflows, and publication
  • Identifyconflicts between business requirements and software functionality, document findings, and translate them into actionable Help content and change requests
  • Test applications against existing Help documentation, log defects, andsubmitUI improvement recommendations to development teams
  • Create stage gate review artifacts for applications seeking deployment approval
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — developers, business analysts, QA testers, project managers, and government stakeholders — to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness
  • Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, style guides, and governance processes to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables
  • Mentor junior technical writers and manage workload distribution to ensuretimely, high-quality delivery
  • Assistwith business development initiatives by contributing to proposals andidentifyinggrowth opportunities
