About The Position

The Document Control Specialist supports Standard Nuclear’s documentation and records management systems by developing, maintaining, and controlling technical documentation across engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions. This role ensures that procedures, work instructions, and records are accurate, accessible, and compliant with company and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role working closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to translate technical processes into clear documentation while maintaining controlled records in a regulated environment. The position plays a critical role in supporting audit readiness, traceability, and operational consistency as manufacturing operations scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in document control, technical writing, or records management in a regulated or industrial environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in technical writing within a manufacturing, industrial, or regulated environment
  • Strong writing, editing, and document organization skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience translating technical or engineering content into clear documentation
  • Familiarity with document control or quality systems (e.g., NQA-1, ISO 9001, or similar)
  • Experience with document management systems, ERP, or quality systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and document formatting tools
  • Ability to manage multiple documents and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Technical Documentation Develop, edit, and maintain technical documents including procedures, work instructions, specifications, and reports
  • Translate engineering and manufacturing processes into clear, user-friendly documentation
  • Standardize document structure, formatting, and language across departments
  • Review and revise documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment with current processes
  • Document Control & Records Support Support management of controlled documents through revision, approval, and release processes
  • Maintain version control and ensure documents are current and accessible
  • Ensure records are properly organized, stored, and retrievable in accordance with company procedures
  • Assist with document change control and configuration management processes
  • Compliance & Audit Support Ensure documentation aligns with applicable standards (e.g., NQA-1, ISO 9001, DOE/NRC requirements as applicable)
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and records
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support document retention practices
  • Cross Functional Coordination Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to gather technical information and validate content
  • Support rollout and implementation of new or revised procedures and work instructions
  • Assist teams in understanding documentation requirements and best practices
  • Systems & Process Improvement Support implementation and improvement of document management and records systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation workflows, clarity, and usability
  • Develop templates and guidelines for consistent technical documentation
