Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED Equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of Military Technical Writing development
  • Aptitude for mechanical applications to vehicles and equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of XML software
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must possess sound written and oral communication skills
  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate

Responsibilities

  • Review work directive to determine scope of work
  • Research and compile manuals in accordance with approved contract
  • Determine project scope and track project milestones
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Illustrators, Maintenance Engineers, Provisioning Technicians, Desktop Publishers, Engineers, Drafting, Designers, Editors, Quality Assurance, Experimental Mechanics, and Configuration Management
  • Collaborate with external customers and suppliers
  • Work typically includes the development and upkeep of Operator Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, and incorporating changes determined by Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Release Records, and DA Form 2028s
  • Manuals may include a descriptive theory of operation, maintenance and diagnostic procedures, and part/assembly information
  • Illustrations may be developed for clarification of any published information
  • Individual and departmental editing is performed to ensure final deliverable meets all internal and customer requirements
  • Ensure manuals are compliant with customer requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
