About The Position

Quarterhill is a dynamic and innovative technology company specializing in intelligent transportation. We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our growing team. If you have a passion for clear communication, a knack for simplifying complex technical concepts, and a desire to work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and real-world transportation operations, we’d love to hear from you! This individual will support the Next Generation Platform team, acting as a dedicated liaison between the platform engineering organization and business development. They will help translate complex platform capabilities into compelling, accurate content that supports both internal BD efforts and customer-facing documentation deliverables. A successful candidate must be able to analyze customer requirements and work with subject matter experts to produce high-quality documentation while managing tight deadlines. Attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Writing skills: Communicates effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience — from toll operations staff to enterprise IT teams.
  • Reading comprehension: Derives information from written text including technical specifications, RFPs, and architecture documents.
  • Active listening: Gives full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and asking questions as needed.
  • Verbal communication: Conveys information verbally in an effective and concise manner during cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation with close attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a SaaS, cloud platform, or enterprise software environment.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a bridge between technical and business teams — RFP response writing, capability summaries, or proposal support experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with API documentation (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC) and the ability to interpret technical architecture documents.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize diverse, multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Technical Writing, Communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to transportation, payments, or government technology systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DITA or topic-based writing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the dedicated liaison between the Next Generation Platform team and the business development organization — ensuring technical capabilities, product differentiators, and platform innovations are accurately and compellingly represented in proposals, presentations, and sales materials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) — including engineers, product managers, and solution architects — to gather information and create accurate, user-friendly technical documentation for a modern, microservices-based intelligent transportation platform.
  • Support business development efforts by developing and maintaining internal reference documentation, RFP response libraries, and reusable content that communicates platform capabilities to prospective customers.
  • Develop, edit, and maintain customer-facing documentation including user manuals, as-built documents, and training materials, customized for each client deployment.
  • Translate complex platform concepts — such as event-driven microservices, AI-assisted workflows, and omnichannel customer service — into clear, accessible content appropriate for both technical and operational audiences.
  • Ensure consistency in voice, style, and terminology across all documentation, maintaining alignment with platform architecture and feature documentation.
  • Deliver and manage documentation using the SharePoint documentation repository, following all document control processes and procedures.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously as needed.
