About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Writer to join our team in the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, manuals, procedures, and other materials related to defense-related systems, projects, and operations.

Requirements

• Strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating technical documents and user manuals.
• Knowledge of DoD standards and guidelines for technical writing and documentation.
• Familiarity with defense-related systems, projects, and operations.
• Experience working with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Cybersecurity Policies/Practices preferred.
• Experience with Confluence for Document Management

Responsibilities

• Create and update technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, user manuals, and other materials in accordance with DoD standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation.
• Review and edit documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness, and to ensure compliance with DoD policies and standards.
• Develop and maintain a repository of technical documents and related materials.
• Participate in project meetings and provide input on technical writing requirements and deliverables.
• Ensure that technical documents are properly formatted, organized, and version controlled.
• Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
