JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager, Technical Publications & Training, this role is responsible for writing descriptive manuals and guides for use in various technical publications. Duties will include, but are not limited to: researching technical topics, writing documents for different audiences, and editing their own & other team member’s work for publication. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension by creating high-quality documentation, guides, manuals, and tutorials. Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed. Brainstorm with the development team to figure out how to simplify technical information for end-users by determining the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension Review, proofread and/or edit content developed by other members of the Technical Publications team. Collaborate with the technical writing, field service, and engineering teams to craft accurate documentation in conjunction with requirements and specifications. Acquire working knowledge of Blue Bird Product lines and related service requirements by learning about the technical documentation and concepts adopted by our company. Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS Fluency in technical and common office software. Ability to pay attention to details. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills. Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter. Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy. Automotive technical acumen or high interest in acquiring. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Proficient in Adobe InDesign BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, business administration or technical writing. 4+ years of experience as a Technical Writer.
