About The Position

The Technical Writer will play a crucial role in producing, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for cybersecurity and IT projects. This role involves analyzing policies, translating complex technical content into clear, user-friendly materials, and supporting compliance with NIST SP 800-53 controls and RMF standards. The position requires collaboration with developers, engineers, and project managers, as well as attention to detail, data entry, and reporting responsibilities. The ideal candidate is experienced in technical writing for cybersecurity, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and committed to delivering accurate, accessible documentation to support agency and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical writing experience, preferably in cybersecurity or IT systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have or be eligible for Public Trust Clearance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products and technical writing tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for end-users.
  • Experience with RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, write, edit, and revise technical documents, including user manuals, tutorials, configuration/installation guides, test plans, and product specifications.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance support for technical security documentation.
  • Execute data entry, maintain project schedules, and generate reports to support project management and documentation efforts.
  • Analyze existing policies and assist in developing technical security policies, processes, and plans.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to facilitate software and product development, ensuring documentation aligns with system requirements.
  • Review and improve documentation usability based on user feedback and accessibility standards.
  • Maintain compliance with RMF and NIST Cybersecurity Framework requirements in documentation.
