About The Position

To keep up with our growth, we are seeking a Technical Writer who will develop accurate, field-ready documentation for our building envelope product lines. This role produces installation manuals, technical data sheets, CSI specifications, submittals, picture cards, and other materials used by architects, engineers, contractors, and installers. The ideal candidate has strong technical writing skills and can understand how building systems interact, especially within the roofing and building envelope environment. Portfolio is Required with resume submission. This role will be located in our New Jersey office Monday - Friday and report to the General Manager. About You You’re a detail-driven technical writer who turns engineering and product information into clear, field-ready documents for roofing and building envelope systems. You collaborate easily across teams, maintain consistent formatting and document control, and take ownership of accuracy, compliance, and usability in the field.

Requirements

  • Proven technical writing experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, or other technically complex industries.
  • Strong ability to convert complex technical information into clear, accessible, structured documentation.
  • Ability to think mechanically and understand systems and assemblies.
  • Proficiency with documentation and illustration tools (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or similar).
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams to gather information for inclusion in technical documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of construction, building envelope systems, roofing, waterproofing, or mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural or engineering drawings (training will be provided as needed).
  • Understanding of how products interface within roof and wall systems and basic building sequencing.
  • Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat and submittal documentation preferred.
  • Basic CAD or Revit literacy is preferred.
  • Experience creating structured documentation with consistent formatting and terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain a full suite of technical documentation including:
  • Installation Manuals
  • Picture Cards and Quick-Reference Guides
  • Product Data Sheets (PDS) and Technical Data Sheets (TDS)
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • CSI Specifications and editable Guide Specifications
  • Submittal Packages, Cut Sheets, and Bill of Materials
  • Technical Bulletins, Best Practices Guides, and Troubleshooting Guides
  • Warranty Documents and Limitations/Restrictions Sheets
  • Application Guides and system tie-in diagrams for roof and wall assemblies and more.
  • Translate engineering drawings, shop drawings, and product information into clear, step-by-step instructions and visuals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and internal technical teams to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Support creation of code and compliance materials, including testing summaries and performance data.
  • Maintain consistent formatting, terminology, and document control across all product lines.
  • Develop training materials, toolbox talks, and internal reference documents as needed.
