Technical Writer, UI and Conceptual Documentation

About The Position

We're hiring a mid-level Technical Writer to own Payabli's UI and conceptual documentation. You'll document the Payabli Portal—merchant dashboards, admin panels, and workflows—and create conceptual guides that make payment processing accessible to everyone from developers to business users.

Requirements

4+ years of technical writing experience, with experience writing user-facing product documentation
Strong Git skills required - you'll work in our docs-as-code repository daily
Experience with docs-as-code workflows (familiarity with MDX, Markdown, YAML, version control)
Excellent conceptual and explanatory writing - you make complex topics accessible
Proven ability to create visual documentation (screenshots, annotations, diagrams)
Comfortable using AI tools as part of your documentation workflow
Willingness to learn and work with our internal CLI tool for documentation processes
Can work independently and prioritize across multiple product teams

Comfortable working in the command line
Payment processing or fintech domain knowledge

Responsibilities

Author documentation in MDX using an editor like VS Code (our docs platform is Fern)
Create and maintain documentation for Payabli Portal workflows, merchant tools, and administrative interfaces
Write conceptual guides that explain payment processing fundamentals and integration patterns
Produce visual documentation including annotated screenshots and diagrams
Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to document features pre-launch
Maintain documentation accuracy as products evolve
Use AI tools to enhance documentation workflows and content quality (we're a Claude shop)
Work with our internal CLI tool for documentation automation and workflows
