About The Position

ECS is seeking a Technical Writer/Scheduler to work remotely. The Scheduler & Technical Writer will serve a dual-function role, managing critical contractual schedules in Microsoft Project and developing, editing, and publishing high-quality, professional contractual documents and reports for the DISA Storefront. This role ensures that all deliverables adhere to strict government standards and that project timelines are meticulously maintained, identifying risks early to ensure contract compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in combined technical writing and project scheduling.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project (creating, maintaining, and analyzing schedules).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Experience in Federal contracting (specifically DoD/DISA) and familiarity with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) terms.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) using Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment with contract deliverables, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Analyze critical path, identify schedule variances, and proactively suggest mitigation strategies to project leadership.
  • Create resource-loaded schedules to optimize resource allocation and ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Generate weekly schedule status reports for government stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with technical teams, project managers, and subcontractors to integrate inputs into the master schedule.
  • Research, write, edit, and publish professional contractual documents, including Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), System Security Plans (SSPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and technical briefings.
  • Translate complex technical information from SMEs into clear, concise, and compliant language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Review, edit, and proofread documentation for formatting, clarity, grammar, and consistency, ensuring adherence to the DoD "Tongue and Quill" style or similar formatting standards.
  • Maintain a centralized, version-controlled library of technical documentation.
  • Support the proposal submission process by creating and editing technical narratives and reports.
