About The Position

Position Summary: The Technical Writer Intern will work toward defined learning objectives while supporting BAPI’s HVAC engineering, Marketing, and Product Management teams. The intern will help create, organize, and update technical documentation such as installation guides, user manuals, troubleshooting procedures, safety instructions, and internal knowledge resources. This role will also support Product Management by contributing documentation for new product releases, product updates, and ENF/ECN-driven changes (Engineering Notification Form/Engineering Change Notice). The intern will help ensure product information remains accurate and consistent across all documentation. This position provides hands-on experience with HVAC sensor products while building professional technical writing skills in a cross-functional environment. The Interns exposure to learning objectives will be tailored to their individual readiness, ensuring they build skills at a pace suited to their current knowledge and abilities. Learning Objectives: Documentation and Development 1. Create, edit, and update technical documents such as installation manuals, product datasheets, and application notes. 2. Translate complex HVAC technical information into clear, user-friendly content for technicians, installers, and customers. 3. Ensure all documentation follows BAPI’s style guidelines, formatting standards, and version control practices. 4. Assist with layout, graphics, and illustrations, including wiring diagrams, flowcharts, and equipment visuals. 5. Document and map product development processes and workflows. 6. Support standardization of procedures and approval workflows across departments. Information Gathering and Technical Accuracy 1. Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and field technicians to collect accurate technical information. 2. Review engineering revisions, product updates, and feedback to ensure documents stay current and consistent. 3. Conduct research and observe product testing to verify accuracy and better understand HVAC components. 4. Update existing documentation to improve clarity, precision, and compliance with HVAC industry standards. Content Organization and Knowledge Management 1. Organize and maintain technical document libraries and repositories. 2. Capture, standardize, and preserve institutional and “tribal” knowledge through structured documentation practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Product Data Integration 1. Assist Marketing and Product Management with creating training materials, presentations, and internal knowledge-based articles. 2. Help organize and maintain documentation repositories for easy access and version tracking. 3. Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand documentation needs across teams. 4. Ensure deliverables support product releases, engineering updates, and team workflows. 1. Maintains industry knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing related publications; establishing networks. 2. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects and tasks as delegated supervisor.
