About The Position

GDMS has an immediate opening for an Administration Intern (Technical Writing focus) to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. This position will support program teams supporting the efforts The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various projects of the GDMS organization and its clients. Requirements

  • Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of business principles.
  • Administration Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program with a preference in a related field.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Preferred English major.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Ability to research unfamiliar technology well enough to describe and summarize for an end-user; must be comfortable asking questions and collaborating with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using an XML editor (e.g., XMLSpy, Arbortext).
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design principles.
  • Understanding of a repository-based content management system (e.g., TortoiseSVN).

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit technical documentation in various formats (e.g., .doc, .PDF, HTML, and XML/SGML-tagged IETMs).
  • Able to comply with military specifications and technical documentation requirements.
  • Maintain established technical documentation lifecycle, to include review cycles and hardware and/or software update cycles.
  • Create supporting graphics (e.g., functional block diagrams) in various formats (e.g., .JPEG, .PNG, etc.) to support documentation functional descriptions and procedures.
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure technical and grammatical accuracy of documentation.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) during development and editing to ensure technical accuracy of documentation.
