About The Position

The Raytheon Full Service Partnering Center (FSPC) is seeking a Technical Writer II to support development of engineering and technical artifacts supporting a wide range of existing and future state Military systems. This onsite position is located in Poulsbo, WA. In this role, you will work both collaboratively within a government/contractor team environment and independently to develop, maintain, verify, and field critical documentation that ensures the safety and operational readiness of our warfighters and government partners. Key responsibilities include producing technical writing deliverables, conducting analysis, supporting Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities, and fostering collaboration within the team. You will be expected to work autonomously, taking initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision while effectively engaging with team members as needed. This role offers significant professional growth opportunities. Demonstrated performance can lead to expanded responsibilities, including serving as the lead technical writer on multiple programs. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with technical documentation development and maintenance in both a Microsoft Office 365 and tool-driven environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Understanding and experience with S1000D methodologies and structures.
  • Familiarity with S1000D-based development tools, such as Contenta or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of illustration development tools, such as CorelDRAW or similar.
  • Ability to translate and convert engineering drawings into technical manual illustrations.
  • Basic understanding of logistics and its relationship to technical manual development.
  • Experience working with U.S. Military programs.
  • Familiarity with government MIL-SPECs governing technical manual development.
  • Understanding of training methodologies for equipment maintenance and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical research to support the development and/or revision of technical documentation.
  • Review and evaluate maintenance and operational procedures for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with requirements and programmatic objectives.
  • Analyze engineering and technical data to identify required updates to technical manual content.
  • Implement approved recommendations by updating technical manuals accordingly.
  • Assist in defining the structure, constructs, and data elements of technical manuals.
  • Develop, update, and refine illustrations to support technical manual content.
  • Participate in technical manual certification, validation, and verification activities.
  • Author, produce, maintain, and peer-review technical plans and supporting documents.
  • Update and manage technical documents and their corresponding repositories.
  • Contribute to new business proposals, internal reviews, and customer presentations as required.
  • Provide support to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), engineering, operations, and program functions as needed.
