About The Position

Nutanix is looking for a technical writer to join our Technical Publications team and create best-in-class end-user and internal documentation for Nutanix server hardware and Nutanix enterprise cloud software. We’re looking for a candidate who can document server hardware and enterprise cloud software. The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and able to produce multiple deliverables with frequent deadlines. Candidates should be able to learn new products and technologies quickly and move from project to project as needed.
Nutanix Technical Publications comprises more than 35 talented professionals in the US and India who work closely with geographically dispersed cross-functional partners, including product managers, hardware, software, and support engineers, and other internal and external stakeholders to document Nutanix’s hardware, software, and solutions. We are part of the Nutanix Engineering organization. You’ll report to the Hardware Documentation Manager.

Requirements

• BS or BA in technical/professional communication, English, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
• Portfolio demonstrating 2-3 years of technical writing experience
• Strong technical aptitude, demonstrating familiarity with server, networking, and storage hardware and software
• Excellent writing and grammar skills

Nice To Haves

• Basic understanding of structured authoring (DITA XML)
• Experience using Git and GitHub for version control
• Some experience with UNIX/Linux, storage, or virtualization

Responsibilities

• Document hardware technology and installation, configuration, and operating procedures using illustrations, blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, prototypes, product samples, subject-matter expert interviews, and other sources.
• Document Nutanix enterprise cloud software using product requirement documents, subject-matter expert interviews, hands-on software usage, demonstrations, and other sources.
• Create written documentation following DITA XML standards and publish it using Github and CI/CD.
• Follow Nutanix Tech Pubs' processes and guidelines for written documentation and for recording work status, deliverables, and revisions.
• Manage multiple projects according to assigned project priority and execute action plans.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
