As a Technical Writer / Communicator III, you will produce clear, accurate documentation that guides users through the operation of autonomous construction vehicle systems. You will work directly with engineers, testers, and product managers to translate complex technical content into accessible procedures, guides, and illustrations. Based in Fort Worth and embedded in ASI's autonomous construction program, you bring mastered writing skills and a developing understanding of engineering processes to documentation that operators and field teams depend on.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communication, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in professional or technical writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar, usage, and technical writing conventions.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate procedures for complex systems.
  • Proficiency with office software and ability to learn new tools and systems quickly.
  • Basic understanding of DocBook XML, XSL, and CSS.
  • Experience creating or directing professional illustrations, screenshots, and diagrams.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment continuously.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
  • Ability to traverse office, lab, data center, and field environments as required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers to scope and plan documentation for autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Research product functionality and workflows to ensure documentation reflects real-world use.
  • Translate complex procedures into clear, illustrated instructions for field operators and end users.
  • Capture digital photography and prepare illustrations, screenshots, and diagrams for documentation.
  • Interview engineers, testers, and support staff to extract and document system knowledge.
  • Assist with engineering documents, certification records, and legal sign-off documentation.
  • Edit documents for grammar, clarity, and consistency across the documentation library.
  • Define and improve documentation processes to keep content accurate and accessible.
