Overview As a member of the Technical Office Engineering (TOE), you will contribute within the production environment to the manufacturing and testing of the first vehicles featuring the pioneering Scout design and functionalities. Additionally, you will play a decisive role in transferring the lessons learned to product optimization activities and the later pre-series and series production line. In your role, you will report to the Manager of the Engineering Office. What you’ll do Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: The Energy System Technical Office Engineer serves as the on-site technical liaison between Energy System Product Engineering and Manufacturing. Acting as the central point of coordination for Energy System activities at the Columbia/Blythewood facility. The Energy system includes: high voltage battery, on board charger, DC/DC converter, thermal management systems, HVAC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in thermal systems engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of high voltage battery systems, power electronics, thermal systems, mechanical, electrical and vehicle systems.
  • Experience with vehicle control systems and diagnostics
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and hardware interfaces.
  • Proficiency with vehicle data collection tools and diagnostics
  • Competence in thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, Fluent, COMSOL) and CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
  • Familiarity with battery electric vehicle high voltage and low voltage mechanizations.
  • Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to be self-sufficient with minimal direction to meet customer deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 25% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Determine root cause and develop resolution plans for Energy System, Production Center issues and manage the implementation of both short-term containment and long-term corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including: the Energy System product engineering team in Novi, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers and production engineering.
  • Work closely with the Energy System product engineering team to gain knowledge of the Energy System design and function.
  • Capture lessons learned and provide feedback for continuous improvement pertaining to the vehicle Energy System.
  • Support new product launches, pre-production builds, and validation activities, including troubleshooting and providing technical guidance to technicians and test engineers.
