The main purpose of this position is to maintain the electronic security systems to ensure the safety and security of youth, staff and citizens of Maryland. This position will be located in Cheltenham, MD and will serve our Southern Maryland and Metro regions. The security systems include but are not limited to video surveillance, detention door systems, keycard access, code red system, Guard Tour, fence intrusion systems, intercom systems and two-way radios. This position assists in the planning, designing and developing electronic security systems, providing expert technical advice and guidance, as well as developing and implementing training. Additionally, this position coordinates vendor management, system documentation and customer support and training. Some key responsibilities of this position may include, but not be limited, to the following: Maintains Electronic Security Systems: Plans, designs and develops new or improves existing electronic security systems, through electronic security plans to address user needs, hardware, software, integrations and peripherals; performs in depth analysis of electronic security systems to include costs, and compatibility with existing hardware and software and provides recommendation and technical documents; and provides expert technical advice and guidance to support electronic security systems for DJS regarding future directions and customization of systems. Vendor Management: Coordinates with vendor representatives in the installation of new hardware and software related to the integration and upgrades of electronic security systems. Assist with the design, installation, and integration of electronic security systems in both small and large scale systems. System Documentation: Advises management in matters related to effective information support functions for electronic security. Develop procedures and standards for electronic security systems and interfaces. Develop documentation of all systems, configurations, and end user processes. Draft audit documentation as required and assist with audits. Customer Support & Training: Troubleshoots and resolves electronic security systems inconsistencies and problems that arise. These issues will be resolved 24 hours a day and may require working on evenings and weekends. Performs and or coordinates staff training for electronic security equipment as necessary. Trains staff on electronic security systems. This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule as available due to demands in DJS facilities.
