The company is seeking a skilled Technical SETA (Microsystems / Photonics) to support an innovative program. This role involves providing direct on-site support to the Program Manager in executing advanced research programs and developing new initiatives across photonics, materials, and microsystems domains.

Requirements

  • Early-career Ph.D. required
  • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics, or related technical field
  • 0–5+ years of relevant work experience supporting advanced R&D programs
  • Experience evaluating technical progress and synthesizing complex research findings
  • Strong analytical skills including data analysis, visualization, and technical reporting
  • Experience preparing high-quality briefings and technical documentation
  • Ability to support program management activities across full lifecycle (BAA, proposal review, execution, transition)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment
  • TS required, TS/SCI preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of photonic crystal surface emitting lasers (PCSELs), photonic integrated circuits, or related photonics technologies
  • Experience with semiconductor fabrication, thin film deposition, and microfabrication techniques
  • Background in metamaterials, optical systems, or materials characterization
  • Familiarity with DARPA processes including Heilmeier Catechism and program development
  • Experience supporting government R&D programs or working with DoD stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical assessments and identify program risks
  • Strong collaboration skills in team-based environments
  • Self-starter with ability to quickly learn new technical domains
