About The Position

The Technical Services Manager – Data Centers is responsible for overseeing technical execution, constructability, and engineering coordination across large-scale data center projects. This role serves as the technical bridge between design, construction, commissioning, and operations, ensuring systems are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client requirements and industry standards. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in data center infrastructure (electrical, mechanical, and controls), strong cross-functional leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex technical issues from design through turnover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience supporting data center construction or mission-critical facilities
  • Strong knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including power distribution, cooling, UPS, generators, and controls
  • Experience supporting large-scale, fast-paced construction environments
  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions with clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, sequencing, and commissioning processes
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset with strong leadership presence
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality, safety, and reliability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on hyperscale or colocation data center projects
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and integrated systems testing (IST)
  • Experience with BIM, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction platforms
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned data center projects, supporting design development through construction and commissioning
  • Lead technical coordination across electrical, mechanical, fire protection, controls, and IT infrastructure systems
  • Review and validate design documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders for technical accuracy and constructability
  • Partner closely with engineering, project management, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve technical challenges
  • Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining performance, reliability, and redundancy requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, etc.)
  • Participate in technical planning meetings, design reviews, and client-facing discussions
  • Oversee system integration, testing plans, commissioning readiness, and turnover documentation
  • Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies to protect schedule and cost
  • Support lessons learned, standardization, and continuous improvement efforts across data center programs
