The Technical Sales Sr. Engineer, GSA drives the sales of thermal management equipment by providing technical expertise and guidance. This position focuses on reviewing specifications, analyzing mechanical drawings, and collaborating closely with Account Managers to help meet customer needs and drive business growth. The anticipated salary range for this role in the California locality is between $85,995 to $114,660 per year – salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee’s role and individual offer details. This role is eligible for a monthly Sales Incentive plan on a 80/20 split. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5–8 years of technical sales/application engineering experience in thermal systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead customer-facing technical discussions and deliver complex submittals.
  • Advanced proficiency with sizing, pump curves, NPSH, pressure drop, and control approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead specification analysis and mechanical drawing reviews; define operating envelopes.
  • Develop concept designs, configuration options, and control strategies for CDUs/chillers/manifolds.
  • Create complete submittal packages (schematics, bill of materials, sequences of operation).
  • Facilitate customer design reviews; negotiate technical exceptions and alternatives.
  • Prepare and review FWT plans; attend critical tests and document results.
  • Provide feedback to offering management/product managers on performance gaps and roadmap needs.
  • Serve as the SME for Vertiv during customer visits and industry events as needed.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and materials to support continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide feedback to product managers to help guide product enhancements and future development.
  • Help to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Provide training and mentorship to less experienced team members.
