Technical Sales Engineer
About The Position

The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate , detailed cost estimates for wire harness assemblies in an AS9100 manufacturing environment. This role requires interpreting complex technical documentation and e nsuring accurate bids are created . The Technical Sales Engineer will support as the bridge between customers, estimating/programs team, and internal ME/O P s. Making sure to accurately scope and cost incoming customer requests. C ollaborat ing closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and program management to develop competitive proposals that align with company goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field.
- Strong understanding of wire harness/cable assembly manufacturing processes per IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across teams.
Nice To Haves
- Previous estimating experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards and aerospace industry requirements.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience reviewing customer drawings, specifications, and PO requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, BOMS, and specifications to ensure accurate understanding of customer requirements
- Develop detailed labor estimates factoring in processes such as crimping, soldering, testing, and inspectio n that are in alignment with production capabilities
- Support in creating BOMs with 80% accuracy
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Leadership on appropriate cost targets
- Analyze time study data to ensure realistic estimates are created
- Identify and highlight potential risks
- Support win/loss analysis and provide input to improve future estimating accuracy
