About The Position

Bowhead seeks a highly skilled Technical Proposal Writer/Editor to develop clear, concise, and compliant documentation for Federal Government contracts. The ideal candidate will have experience working with government agencies, understanding procurement regulations, and producing high-quality technical content that meets federal requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or Technical Communication.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience.
  • Prior experience with technical proposal writing in a government contracting environment.
  • Experience in writing documentation for government contracts, procurement, or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with the DoD and other federal agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and documentation management tools.
  • Strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), or other relevant guidelines.
  • Knowledge of contract writing software and government databases.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • There is currently no clearance requirement for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and edit technical documents, including proposals, reports, manuals, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to federal regulations, procurement guidelines, and contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and compliance officers to gather technical information.
  • Work closely with proposal team to meet all suspense dates for content development and/or editing.
  • Translate complex data into accessible content for diverse audiences, including government officials and contractors.
  • Maintain document version control and ensure consistency across multiple projects.
  • Research and incorporate regulatory changes, ensuring documents remain compliant with federal standards.
  • Support proposal development, responding to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and other solicitation documents.
