Position Overview: A developing professional role, the Career Technical Product Manager builds upon foundational skills by taking increased ownership of the delivery, performance, and sustainability of team and their supported systems. They collaborate with IT, Business, and Operations teams, to ensure quality, on time deliverables, and actively contribute to the planning and execution of the team efforts, and product/project and strategic roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of project management, ideally within a technical or software development environment.
  • Working experience with project management methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, and Mixed
  • Understanding of the Systems and Services Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities.
  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Lucid Charts/Visio, or BMC Helix

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Project Management foundation PMP certification or CAPM or CSM
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Lucid Charts/Visio, MS Project and BMC Helix
  • Experience creating presentable metrics through PowerBI
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or 2 years of project management experience or certification

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the milestones and tasks for team efforts working with team members, business partners, and vendors. Tracks and communicates progress, identifies opportunities, remediates roadblocks, and aligns team resources on efforts based on priority. Maintains team effort roadmap and reviews with management and more senior Technical Product Managers to ensure alignment with larger strategic initiatives and BAU required work. Works closely with management to ensure team members have resources needed and alerts management of any potential concerns. Assists in coordinating implementations and go-live strategies. Supports multiple systems of minor to moderate complexity.
  • Supports planning, maintenance, and communication of team capacity and capability projections extending up to 18 months, utilizing product/system/project roadmaps, end of life/end of support projections, and integrated systems roadmaps. This role collaborates strategically with Business Owners/Manager, EPMO, and other IT peers to ensure alignment between technical feasibility and business needs, proactively identifying and addressing potential resource constraints or capacity gaps.
  • Defines and owns the metric requirements for tracking comprehensive measurement of the effectiveness of team's efforts. This includes establishing clear measurement methodologies, proactively monitoring performance against these metrics, analyzing trends to identify areas for improvement, and communicating findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Defines and proactively communicates current and future process improvement opportunities and best practices within the team, placing strong emphasis on identifying and evangelizing opportunities for reusability and automation. This includes tailoring communication strategies for different audiences and ensuring a clear understanding based on their expertise.
  • Define, refine, and ensure consistent adherence to department and organization Policies, Standards, Technical Guidelines and formally defined processes and procedures, with a strong emphasis on embedding and enforcing security and privacy policies across all systems within their responsibility.
  • Observe, discuss with individual team members on, and report on skills gaps within team to management. Recommend prioritization of training based on roadmaps and effort prioritization.
