Technical Product Manager

VisaFoster City, CA

About The Position

The Visa Direct Technical Product Manager team serves as the liaison between Business Product Management and Engineering, translating business needs into technically feasible, right-sized solutions. In this role, you will evaluate incoming requirements, clarify “what and why,” and drive solutioning decisions—leveraging existing platform assets where possible and defining new assets where required—to deliver client outcomes without overbuilding or introducing unnecessary cost.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong technical foundation with an engineering background; prior hands-on development experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate in a hybrid product/technical capacity: bring technical depth first, with business/product judgment as an additive strength.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate feasibility and tradeoffs across client needs and engineering constraints (avoid expensive/overbuilt solutions).
  • Experience in roles spanning engineering/architecture and later moving into product/technical product management.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD

Responsibilities

  • Bridge business requirements and engineering execution by translating “what/why” into clear solution intent and technical direction.
  • Lead solutioning by determining when to reuse existing Visa Direct capabilities vs. when new assets are required to bring a solution to life.
  • Partner and platform integration support: collaborate with cross-functional partners to map requirements, define integration needs, and ensure solutions work end-to-end across client-facing APIs and internal processing components. (Example: partner mapping + new asset build + reuse of existing assets/APIs/back office.)
  • Ensure solutions are pragmatic and scalable—able to understand both client pain points and developer constraints, and avoid expensive/overbuilt approaches.
