About The Position

Inside the Role The Powertrain Product Marketing Specialist serves as a key leader in developing and executing go‑to‑market strategies for Third‑Party Powertrain and Captive Axle offerings within DTNA products. This role is responsible for crafting clear communications, core messaging, dealer and internal sales materials, training content, and promotional programs that support on-highway, vocational and medium duty product success. Third‑Party powertrains are essential to the performance and market strength of Freightliner and Western Star vehicles, and this position will be at the forefront of introducing new engines and transmissions to DTNA dealers and customers. The ideal candidate embraces collaboration across the organization and understands that DTNA’s success is tied to our customer and dealer success. Successful execution of the role will require a candidate that is passionate about delivering excellent results, celebrates success and learns from failure. The candidate should be able to see the big picture, set and accomplish short- and long-term goals, establish priorities, and objectively evaluate outcomes. Requirements

  • BS/BA and 5-7 years of relevant experience is required
  • Identify trends and opportunities through analysis of complex datasets
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and have a big-picture view of DTNA’s business and the market
  • Be customer (internal and external stakeholders) focused
  • Build internal cross-functional network – product marketing, brand/marketing communications, product strategy, segment strategy, sales, CAE, service, controlling, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Possess strong project management skills
  • Possess excellent presentation and written communication skills
  • Be self-driven, work proactively and possess a can-do attitude
  • Be flexible, with a willingness to pivot depending on market or DTNA needs or external events
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Quickly learn and communicate technical details of ADAS products
  • Working knowledge and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills required
  • Travel required approximately 15-20% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and lead the execution of go-to-market strategies for 3rd Party Powertrains as well as captive axles; collaborate with Product Strategy and Segment Strategy teams to determine appropriate product go-to-market timing.
  • Develop sales support collateral (i.e. pitch decks, walkaround videos, sell sheets, white-papers, spec packages, etc.) for dealers and DTNA internal sales stakeholders.
  • Support development of product-specific messaging and ensure appropriate product positioning/messaging for 3rd Party Powertrain in brand marketing communications, DTNA Corporate Communications, truck product marketing sales collateral and training materials.
  • Ensure accurate representation of Powertrain features in SpecPro, i.e., appropriate data code descriptions and links to relevant product feature details, and images.
  • Drive collaboration with On Highway and Vocational Training teams to determine appropriate strategies (webinars, online training modules, in person events, etc.) for educating dealer and internal sales stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with On Highway and Vocational Segment Strategy and Product Marketing teams to develop strategic initiatives to grow DTNA business in target segments.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing and Brand Marketing teams and ensure appropriate products/features are promoted on Freightliner and Western Star brand web sites and through brand social media channels.
  • Play lead role in developing strategy to capture and communicate competitor data/insights; collaborate with Segment Strategy and Product Strategy teams as needed to understand market and competitor insights and develop content to help stakeholders sell against the competition.
  • Support marketing truck and trade show strategy development to ensure appropriate spec’ing of Powertrain features; represent DTNA at trade shows and other industry events.
  • Collaborate with truck product marketing teams to determine how to best demonstrate Powertrain features in DTNA truck products at industry events, dealer training events and customer ride and drives.
  • Act as main point of contact and subject matter expert for internal (new truck sales teams, CAE, etc.) and external stakeholders (dealers, customers) for current, released Powertrain product information.
  • Develop technical product presentations and present, including product “walkarounds”, to key stakeholders.
  • Support Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features that have specific functionality based on 3rd party powertrain attributes.
  • Support team members by cross-training on Powertrain, Regulatory and Safety features to provide coverage when needed.
