About The Position

We are seeking a technical manager who will be responsible for leading a team of technical contributors. The engineers work a variety of programs with some of our most important government customers. We are a diverse and multi-disciplinary group working to help strengthen our national defense in a flexible work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration. The technical manager responsibilities outlined below are in addition to any role already being performed.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage up to 10 individual reports and provide clear direction and expectations
  • Capable of evaluating staff professionally, objectively, and without bias to identify and communicate strengths and developmental needs to individual
  • Capable to meet with staff monthly, at a minimum, and be available regularly to coach through emerging needs
  • Ability to hold staff accountable, have difficult conversations, and provide candid and constructive feedback
  • Have problem solving, analytical reasoning, and negotiation skills
  • Leadership abilities coupled with good interpersonal skills and solid decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Trustworthy with sensitive business information and ability to navigate difficult situations
  • Strong business, organizational, and management skills with an emphasis on relationship management
  • Ability to sign timesheets, sometimes outside of business hours
  • Must have a current TS/SCI clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous people management experience
  • Familiarity with RST and ARKA policies and ability to reference and communicate policies to staff

Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse workforce to ensure customer support across multiple production platforms and development contracts, managing time off requests to ensure appropriate coverage as needed
  • Provide leadership, technical direction, and guidance to staff to support career plans and to foster a culture of growth and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a leader in the business who staff can rely on
  • Work with Human Resources for performance reviews, promotions, and reward nominations as appropriate
  • Identify project needs and manage staffing requirements both within the team and across other ARKA business organizations
  • Identify capital needs and work with management to prioritize and budget
