About The Position

The Technical Field Services Manager as a member of the Compass ESFM group, will manage & maintain all aspects of the industrial kitchen equipment inventory at their assigned site locations. The TSM is responsible for preventative maintenance, on-demand (reactive) repair, leads and supports a team of field technicians responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial kitchen equipment across designated customer locations. This role drives organized, efficient operations by compiling/overseeing daily & weekly scheduling, coordinating service activities, validating required work-scope completion and ensuring clear, detailed & timely communication amongst technicians, clients, and internal teams. The manager provides technical guidance, drives a culture of safety and accountability, and ensures high‑quality service delivery, fostering strong customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Prior management of experienced technicians or leading service teams in commercial kitchen equipment service & repairs.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with commercial kitchen equipment (hot-side and/or cold-side), including electrical, mechanical, basic plumbing, and gas-fired systems.
  • Proficiency with CMMS or service management software for scheduling work tracking, and inventory management.
  • Proven driven ability to lead, coach, and develop a field‑based team.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, flexibility, resourcefulness and effective leadership.
  • Consistently practices ethical integrity and transparency when dealing with all constituents.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain strong follow-through.
  • Solid knowledge of basic financial profit-loss dynamics, with equal focus on revenues, expense/labor and overhead costs to generate a profitable operation

Responsibilities

  • Manage, schedule, and support technicians performing installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Provide hands‑on technical solution-based guidance for complex service issues and ensure high‑quality workmanship.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and repair activities in compliance with manufacturers guidelines, company standards, and safety requirements.
  • Assign and dispatch work orders and provide day-to-day leadership for the Seattle-based self-perform technician team.
  • Maintain and utilize the CMMS for work tracking, scheduling, inventory management, dispatching, and invoicing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of work orders, service reports, technician timekeeping, and invoicing documentation in alignment with KPI expectations.
  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and technicians to manage service requests, parts needs, and escalations.
  • Determine material and manpower requirements to support efficient service delivery.
  • Manage & maintain all Compass assets, including purchased parts, materials, consumables, and maintain par-stock levels/ replenishment.
  • Monitor labor and material costs, control expenses, and support adherence to budget expectations.
  • Adhere to approved purchasing programs and vendor agreements.
  • Ensure proper care, organization, and inventory/accountability of technician tools/equipment.
  • Maintain service vehicles, ensuring compliance with Holman’s vehicle program and upkeep of usage/service logs.
  • Champion a strong culture of safety by modeling safe work practices, enforcing company safety programs and regulatory requirements, and ensuring technicians consistently follow established procedures.
  • Respond to urgent service needs and assist with after‑hours or high priority situations as required.
  • Participate in hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations for technicians.
