About The Position

The Technical Field Service Manager is responsible for managing, organizing and supporting all service projects for Klima New York (KNY). This position will support KNY customers by providing inspecting, testing, adjusting, balancing heating, cooling, and ventilating systems in commercial and industrial buildings. This position has a strong emphasis on technical support during startup, commissioning and troubleshooting of VRF systems.

Requirements

  • Valid HVAC training certificate from program or trade school
  • 5-7 years commercial HVAC experience, prior technical experience in LG VRF systems
  • 3-4 years of management experience of HVAC field technicians
  • Experience using a vacuum pump and micron gauge
  • Experience using a refrigerant reclaim machine
  • Universal EPA Certification required
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Available to perform scheduled on-call & overtime duties
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Periods of sitting while driving and occasionally at a desk and working on a computer.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to do the following:
  • Climbing – ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps
  • Balancing – may be required to maintain equilibrium on unsteady surfaces
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling to reach equipment
  • Pushing, pulling and lifting components or equipment
  • May be required to work in all weather conditions
  • May be exposed to different atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, etc.
  • Must be able occasionally to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to discuss the system requirements and malfunctions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Responsibilities

  • Strong operational understanding of commercial HVAC systems in particular LG VRF systems.
  • Performs all technical duties related to start up, commissioning and troubleshooting VRF systems
  • Ability to train customers and contractors on VRF system functions and operation.
  • Can work independently with scheduling and daily activities and manage team of field technicians.
  • Provide feedback to field technicians and customers as needed
  • Communicate and work together with sales engineers, service and controls to make sure projects are completed as designed.
  • Monitor progress and verify readiness for startup scheduling (Power/ vacuum/controls).
  • Responsible for startup coordination which includes system readiness confirmation, start-up scheduling, completion of start-up documents, warranty validation, and submission of documentation required for LG Warranty approval.
  • Works in a safe manner. Follows industry standard safety practices including knowledge of MSDS, OSHA, tool safety, equipment safety and ladder safety guidelines.
  • Properly operates and maintains Company Vehicle. Adheres to all company policies.
  • Performs standard Preventative Maintenance duties on all HVAC Equipment efficiently and without requiring supervision.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems, failed parts, etc. on all A/C equipment.
  • Has ability to solder, braze refrigerant lines, water lines, etc.
  • Has ability to read and interpret schematics and control circuits.
  • Properly completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner including work orders, startup reports, warranty reports & part orders.
  • Answers technical questions from service technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.
