The ideal candidate has strong engineering fundamentals combined with the ability to evaluate assets, model development scenarios, and partner with cross‑functional teams to assess opportunities across the energy value chain.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of production engineering, facilities engineering, reservoir fundamentals, or energy system operations
  • Experience supporting A&D, corporate development, planning, or asset evaluation workflows
  • Proficiency with engineering and economic tools such as Aries, PHDWin, or equivalent platforms
  • Strong analytical capabilities with hands‑on experience using Python, data visualization tools, and large technical datasets
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to financial and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent evaluations in a fast‑paced, deal‑driven environment
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related discipline), or
  • Minimum: Master’s degree - from accredited university - Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC
  • Minimum: 10 - 15+ years of experience in engineering roles within the energy industry (upstream, midstream, power, industrial, renewables, or CCUS)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in corporate development, private equity, strategy, or investment analysis
  • Familiarity with SQL, cloud‑based data ecosystems, and machine-learning‑enabled analytics
  • Understanding of emissions quantification, energy transition technologies, or low‑carbon engineering
  • Prior experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Strong executive‑presentation and storytelling skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical assessment of acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture opportunities, integrating subsurface, production, facility, and operational data
  • Review engineering inputs—including decline curves, type curves, reserves, facility constraints, capital programs, and operating cost structures—to validate key value drivers
  • Assess asset integrity, operational risks, and regulatory considerations across upstream, midstream, power, industrial, or low‑carbon assets (depending on company focus)
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams to develop technical assumptions for development cases, capital planning, and long‑range forecasts
  • Evaluate asset sustainability metrics, emissions intensity, and energy‑transition considerations for inclusion in investment analyses
  • Provide engineering‑driven insights to enhance financial models, including production projections, capital schedules, operating profiles, and risk factors
  • Support the end‑to-end M&A process, including screening, diligence, competitive benchmarking, market analysis, and integration readiness
  • Conduct technical due diligence, including review of operating data, facilities, maintenance history, environmental compliance, and development plans
  • Summarize engineering findings into concise commercial implications for executive audiences and investment committees
  • Contribute to negotiation strategies by identifying technical risks, value levers, and structural considerations influencing deal terms
  • Utilize engineering and analytical software (e.g., Aries, PHDWin, Spotfire, Power BI, Python‑based analysis tools) to validate and pressure‑test assumptions
  • Apply Python for workflow automation, scenario analysis, probabilistic modeling, and integration of large datasets
  • Build and maintain standardized tools for asset benchmarking, decline‑curve automation, data cleansing, and engineering assumptions
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance data quality and improve visibility of technical KPIs
  • Serve as the technical subject‑matter expert for Corporate Development, partnering with Finance, Land, Legal, Strategy, Operations, and ESG teams
  • Coach team members on engineering fundamentals that impact valuation and deal economics
  • Provide strategic input for portfolio optimization, capital allocation decisions, and long-term development strategies
  • Support post‑acquisition integration efforts by aligning engineering assumptions with operational teams and capital planning processes
